actived zinc oxide
Properties:
White or yellowish powder, odorless, nontoxic, fine and smooth. It has more fine grains, larger surface, and is easier to spread than direct or indirect zinc oxide. Relative density is 5.606. Melting point: 1975 degree. Soluble in acid sodium hydroxide and ammonium chloride; insoluble in water, ethanol and ammonia; and it is amphoteric oxide. It can absorb carbon trioxide and water in the air to produce zinc carbonate in yellow color. While heated, it becomes yellow and resumes white after cooling down. It is ultraviolet radiation resistant, and will not become black meeting with sulfureted hydrogen; and easily disperse in rubber or latex.
Application:
Activated zinc oxide mainly replaces direct or indirect zinc oxide to be used in rubber or cable industries as the main material of the reinforcing agent, and also used as vulcanization activator of natural rubber, coloring agent and filler of white rubber, vulcanizing agent of chloroprene rubber. It can enhance rubber product’s quality and reduces production costs, because it not only makes rubber better in corrosion resistance, tear resistance and elasticity but also is used less 30 to 60% than direct zinc oxide and indirect one in rubber. Besides, those of fine particles (particle size around 0.1um) can be used as light stabilizing agent of plastics including polyolefins or chloroethylene, etc. Finally, it can also replace direct or indirect zinc oxide to be used in Ceramics, enamel, paint, medicine, chemical and paper-making industries.
